Castlemaine House 2
Extensions to a brick Victorian workers cottage in Castlemaine, set on an east sloping hill. The extensions are cut into the hill at the rear of the existing house. Wet areas have been pushed to the southern boundary allowing the new living area and kitchen dining rooms to occupy the prime locations on the site with protected northerly aspect. The western wall of the dining room is a retaining wall and enclosure continuing to create an outdoor room carved out of the hill.
